Black and White

I just had my final critique for my two ceramic classes on thursday. I showed about a 1/3 of my work, picking the pieces that showed my progress best. It wasn't until I had everything set out that I noticed how much better my form had gotten. The only problem was.. my glazing SUCKED. I hadn't had much luck making my own glazes and had been fighting with the shop glazes all semester so during the last week i went and glazed everything blue and red on white. This really took away from my forms and after talking with my professors we decided that to cure myself from over decorating, and sometimes ruining nice pottery, that I should focus on two glazes. We decided next term that I will focus on working in black and white.

Although I have been limited. I am super excited about working this way and thought a good way to get some ideas flowin would be to search for black and whites that i find stimulating. These are the sorts of patterns, themes and vibes that I want in my pottery.

It was also a great way to find some new artists and awesome items on etsy

1. Creamer and Sugar Bowl (I might have cheat and add some blue now..) - shoshonasnow
2. Craft Paper Bead Necklace - hippiekingdom
3. Fancy Glass Headpins -Black and White (The glass reminds me of glazes) - tanyamcguire
5. Chickadee Tumbler - kirstenkswanson

I want all of this. Check out these shops, they all have some wicked items for sale. There will probably be some more black and white posting soon. All these crafters are helping me to get stoked on my next glazing project. Thanks!
