Pru Morrison's Fantastic Illustrative Ceramics

I ran across these lovely drawings on Bum Crane. The artist has used terrasig on already fired wares and then carved into it. As with slips, I would normally apply terrasig in the greenware state but this seems to be another way of doing it. Since the piece would already be hard it wouldn't carve into the clay as much and I feel like you could get some really detailed lines. The state your piece is in during decoration is always something to be aware of and experiment with.

Here is a quick shot of colored terrasig results. Fabulous.

I would also like to include a few more pictures that have been inspiring me from Bum Crane

I love the detail and colour in all the pieces I've found on this blog so far. And am always a fan of text. Take a few minutes to check this out.

Clay Olympics

We recently had our clay olympics. I series of seriously silly events that my classmates and I competed in for our chance to win the golden hotdog. Don't worry, both the bun and hotdog are 100% ceramic. Events included tea pot blowing, longest thrown slab, blindfolded throwing, longest coil and group events such as largest pot (10lbs), and tea pot relay.

Our Ceramic Show

Been so busy with school I haven't had anytime to update. But here are you few pictures to see what my school is all about and why we are all so busy. This is the Ceramic show we put up in the main mall at ACAD. We've got some really fun and talented students. For the reception there was a saxophone and keyboard band and we set up a tea party with cake and tea (obviously) and other lovely snacks. People sitting at the tables had to wear lovely tea time hats. It was delightful!

These are my mugs. :)

Plently of fish to snuggle with. One girls experiment on plenty of fish got her some interesting replies..
